Shae Tye designer of Sleepy Wings was one of 5 Australian mothers that has been selected for a Huggies Australia Business Grant of $20,000 to assist with the growth of their start up business!  With over 1100 entries, Sleepy Wings met the criteria set by Huggies, calling for innovative products designed by mothers that - ’Nuture the relationship between mother and baby, making mum’s life easier’

 

What inspired me to design Sleepy Wings?

I designed Sleepy WingsTM in the early hours of the morning during January 2010 whilst breast feeding.  Dileriously tired and over returning to her cot to replace lost dummies, I started to think through ways that Alannah could retrieve her own dummy.  Objective:  More sleep! 

It was summer and the concerns of overheating Alannah also made wrapping or swaddling dangerous.  I needed to design a garment that would keep Alannah in her swaddled position, but also ensure she was cool and safe.

There just HAD to be a way to teach Alannah to find her own dummy

After several homemade prototypes, and endless hours of web searching, it became apparent that there was no such garment design that simply allows an infant to replace their own dummy within head turn reach, prevent scratching, keep her cooler in the heat AND keep those wondering hands under control whilst milk feeding!
